Latrobe, PA - It took 48 extra hours to come up with a final score between Geneva and Saint Vincent in women′s basketball but it turned out to be not worth the wait for the Golden Tornadoes in an 82-60 loss to the Bearcats. The loss dropped Geneva to 7-14 overall including a 0-10 mark away from Metheny Fieldhouse.

Geneva head coach Renee Drake wanted her team to control their turnovers and take care of the glass against one of the top rebounding teams in the PAC. At the end of the day, the first year head coach walked away frustrated with neither objective being met by her young team. The Golden Tornadoes suffered a season high 39 turnovers while allowing 29 offensive rebounds. "We had a lot of unforced turnovers that I attribute to a long lay-off," said Drake. "We had been doing a much better job protecting the ball, but a combination of sloppy play and a tough Saint Vincent defense was our undoing tonight."

Despite 22 first half turnovers, Geneva trailed only 38-30 at the break. Cutting the lead to six on an Alyse Scarsella lay-up to start the half, the Golden Tornadoes were never able to get any closer as Saint Vincent ran away and hid late in the game.

"We didn′t play a great first half, but we felt fortunate to be down just eight," said Drake. "The turnovers continued in the second half and they started knocking down some shots. That was a bad combination."

Renee Rawding and Christine Carugati each scored 14 points to lead the offense while Rachel Barry and Scarsella notched ten points apiece in the loss.

The Golden Tornadoes will again look for their first road win of the season as they visit Chatham on Wednesday night. Geneva returns home on Saturday night to face Grove City College.
