Beaver Falls, PA - It was the end of an era for one Geneva player and perhaps a coming out party for the other. Renee Rawding ended her brilliant Geneva career last week as the ninth all-time leading scorer while Scarsella completed her first season as a full-time starter for the Golden Tornadoes. On Monday, each player was honored by the Presidents′ Athletic Conference with coach′s honors, which are the equivalent of all-conference recognition.
Geneva′s season did not go quite as planned with an overall record of 8-17 under first year head coach Renee Drake, but Rawding and Scarsella were a couple bright spots in an otherwise disappointing campaign. Rawding led Geneva in scoring with a mark of 12.5 points per game as the only Geneva player to start all 25 games during the season. Rawding shot over 40% from three-point range with a team best 39 treys. From the foul line, Rawding missed only 11 all year for a final mark of 88.3%.
Scarsella, who started in 17 games for Geneva, averaged 10.5 points per game and a team best 6.7 rebounds per contest. She also had 18 blocks and 26 steals in her first consistent playing time for the Golden Tornadoes.
Senior guard Keenan Killeen from Washington & Jefferson was named the PAC women′s player of the year while Thomas More′s Brian Neal was recognized as the coach of the year. Thomas More completed their run through the PAC tournament with yet another conference title on Saturday afternoon.
