Kissimmee, FL - It may be difficult to find two games so different by the same team on the same day. Geneva College cruised to a 9-1 victory over Regis College in game one on Wednesday and then dropped an 11-1 decision to NAIA Marian University in the night cap. Both games lasted only five innings because of the eight-run mercy rule. After three days in Florida and six games, the Golden Tornadoes sit at 3-3 for the season.

On Wednesday, the doubleheader could not have started better as Geneva posted eight runs in the bottom of the first inning. An RBI single from Kara Zimmerman and a two-run single from Anjelica Marsh highlighted the early rally. Geneva put together seven hits in the early outburst. Julie DiLonardo made those runs hold up with four scoreless innings as she moved to 3-1 on the season. Jenny Barrett allowed one unearned run in her inning of work.

Game two could not have started worse as Marian University posted four first inning runs and never looked back. Geneva′s lone run came on an RBI single from Adriane Blake in the third inning. Marian exploded for six runs in the fourth inning to break open a 5-1 game. Geneva had just three hits in the night cap with Blake picking up a pair in the loss. Ariel Lilly was saddled with the loss after 3 2/3 innings of work in the circle.

After an off day on Thursday, Geneva will face Emmanuel and Dubuque on Friday morning as the 12-game Florida swing continues through the weekend.
