Kissimmee, FL - It has been a busy eight days for the Geneva softball team. On Monday, the Golden Tornadoes closed out their Florida swing by dropping a pair of 1-0 decisions to Nichols College and Rutgers-Camden. The doubleheader loss dropped Geneva′s overall record to 3-7 while its scoreless streak reached 19 straight innings without a run.

Geneva picked up a pair of outstanding pitching performances but both were wasted as the Golden Tornadoes were unable to cross home plate in the doubleheader. In game one, Julie DiLonardo scattered six hits while striking out seven batters in seven innings of work. Geneva was 0-7 with runners in scoring position in game one and twice stranded a runner at third with less than two outs. Geneva had just four hits including a pair of doubles from Adriane Blake.

In the night cap, it was more of the same as Geneva wasted an outstanding performance from Ariel Lilly. Lilly did not allow a run in seven innings yielding just three hits. DiLonardo was handed the loss when the winning run crossed the plate in the bottom of the eighth inning on a throwing error. Geneva had five hits in the loss with a pair of singles coming from Martha Adams

The Golden Tornadoes will be back in Beaver Falls on Tuesday to prepare for road doubleheaders with Point Park and Hiram later this week.
