Beaver Falls, PA - Geneva′s baseball team managed just five hits in the first game of a doubleheader against Penn State Beaver. The Lions handed Geneva a 10-2 loss in game one before the Golden Tornadoes′ offense awoke to the tune of a 13-4 victory in the night cap. The split left Geneva sitting at 4-4 on the season with a single game against the Lions scheduled for Friday at 3:30 pm

Jon Bushmire picked up two of Geneva′s five hits in game one with Bryan Visingardi and Justin Acosta provided a pair of seventh inning RBI′s for the only offensive highlights of the first game. Five Geneva errors didn′t help starter Phil Shallenberger′s outing as he was handed the complete game loss.

In game two, Geneva again fell behind 3-0 into the second inning before the offense found its stride. Seven runs in the bottom of the second gave Geneva control of the game. Two runs singles from Adam Scheiderer and Jon Jurinko highlighted the rally. Scheiderer struck again in a four-run sixth inning with his first home run of the season. Geneva banged out 13 hits in the victory Scheiderer and Jon Jurinko collecting three hits each. Mike Trn went the distance for the victory allowing four runs on six hits and striking out five.

Geneva hosts Penn State Beaver on Friday before a home doubleheader with Baptist Bible Saturday at 1 pm.
