Beaver Falls, PA - Following a doubleheader split with Penn State Beaver on Thursday, the Geneva College baseball team put its offense on display for a single game victory against the Lions on Friday. Geneva cruised to a 17-4 win to improve its overall record to 5-4. Geneva′s 19 hit attack was more that the Lions could handle as the Golden Tornadoes put the game away with a total of 13 runs in their final four at-bats.

Tad Forsythe came on in relief in the fifth inning to pick up the victory. He did not allow an earned run in 4 1/3 innings of relief. He also made an impact with the stick with a two-run homer in the eighth inning in his only at-bat of the game. An Adam Scheiderer sacrifice fly in the first inning gave Geneva a one-run lead. Tied at 1-1 in the third, Geneva struck for three more tallies highlighted by a Scheiderer two-run double. Ben DeTow slugged a two-run double in a five run fifth and Scheiderer struck again with a two-run base hit in a four run sixth.

Other offensive highlights included Phil Shallenberger′s four runs scored, Jon Jurinko′s three hits, Scheiderer′s five RBI′s and two doubles from Detow.

The Golden Tornadoes will host Baptist Bible College at 33rd Street Field on Saturday at 1 pm.
