Robinson Twp, PA - It wasn′t looking particularly good for the Geneva baseball team late in Wednesday′s game against Grove City College. The Golden Tornadoes trailed 9-6 in the top of the ninth with two outs. Following a strikeout and wild pitch to Phil Shallenberger that kept the game alive, Geneva′s Jon Jurinko launched a shot of the right field fence that cleared the bases to give the Golden Tornadoes an 11-9 lead and cap a five run rally. The comeback victory moved Geneva′s overall record to 8-4 including five straight in the win column.

Geneva took an early lead with three runs in the second inning highlighted by RBI hits from Joel Dille and Mike Suluva. Another Suluva RBI in the fourth followed by a run scoring double from Jon Jurinko pushed the lead to 5-2. The Wolverines responded with a five spot in the bottom of the inning to reclaim the lead until the ninth inning heroics.

Dylan Viehdorfer picked up the victory with 4 2/3 innings of effective relief. Viehdorfer allowed two earned runs on four hits while striking out a pair. Phil Shallenberger picked up his first save of the year with a scoreless ninth inning following Geneva′s five runs in the top of the ninth inning.
