Geneva College will welcome Ian Naismith, the grandson of the founder of basketball, to display the Naismith Basketball Exhibit. Visitors will be able to meet and talk with Ian Naismith and preview 200 square feet of historical basketball photos, displays and memorabilia.
Ian Naismith selected Geneva College as a venue because Geneva has long been recognized as the Birthplace of College Basketball. Naismith will reference his grandfather′s writings to reconfirm this title.
James Naismith invented the game of basketball in 1891. The game was intended to foster sportsmanship, character and values in to young people through physical fitness. Now, two generations later, Ian Naismith is traveling the nation reclaiming the values basketball was intended to bear. Visitors of the exhibit will have the opportunity to see the development of one of America′s mainstream professional sports.
The exhibit is free to all during the public display times:
Thursday, April 15 - 10 a.m. - 7 p.m.
Friday, April 16 - 10 a.m. - 7 p.m.
Saturday, April 17 - 10 a.m. - 8 p.m.
