Beaver Falls, PA - The Geneva College baseball team was hoping that a return to the familiar surroundings of 33rd Street Field would be the needed remedy to put an end to its current slide. As it turned out, the Golden Tornadoes dropped their ninth straight and fell to 8-13 following a 10-4 loss to Washington & Jefferson College.

Falling behind early has been a script that Geneva has been looking to change but again on Wednesday afternoon, the Golden Tornadoes watched W & J post four runs in the top of the first inning. In fact, Geneva watched the Presidents jump to an 8-0 lead before it was able to get on the scoreboard. Mike Suluva pitched the first five innings and was handed the loss after allowing six earned runs.

Trailing 8-0, Geneva got on the board with back to back RBI singles from Ben Detrow and Justin Acosta. Jon Bushmire accounted for the other two runs with a two-run double in the bottom of the eighth. Bushmire had two of Geneva′s nine hits in the game with his RBI double and a triple in the second inning.

Geneva opens a three-game weekend series with Saint Vincent on Friday with a single game in Latrobe. The Bearcats visit 33rd Street Field on Saturday for a doubleheader beginning at 1 pm.
