Beaver Falls, PA - The Geneva College softball team finally was able to take both ends of a doubleheader on Saturday. After splitting five of the last six twinbills, the Golden Tornadoes took a pair from Westminster College by scores of 8-0 in six innings and 7-0. Geneva finally got back to the .500 mark with an overall record of 12-12 on the season while Westminster fell to 10-10 on the year.

Geneva got off and running in game one with six runs in the bottom of the second inning. Julie DiLonardo launched a two-run double and Samantha Michetti followed with a two-run double of her own later in the inning. A Lori Deem RBI single in the fifth and a wild pitch that scored Martha Adams in the sixth ended the game with the eight-run mercy rule after six innings. Julie DiLonardo got more than enough support as she tossed a two-hit shut-out with six strikeouts. Geneva had eight hits with DiLonardo going a perfect 3-3 at the plate.

DiLonardo starred in game two as well as once again she took the ball to the circle and posted her second shut-out of the day. In game two, DiLonardo scattered six hits for her 11th victory of the season. Geneva got going early in game two with four runs in the first inning. Adriane Blake hit her fifth home run of the season and Leanne Abate and Lori Deem each came up with run scoring singles. Geneva′s offense accounted for nine hits in game two with Lexi Svingos leading the way with two hits and an RBI.

The Golden Tornadoes will try to keep things rolling when they visit Washington & Jefferson on Wednesday. Geneva returns home on Saturday to host Thomas More.
