Beaver Falls, PA - Geneva College and Grove City hooked up in a single nine inning game on Monday afternoon at 33rd Street which would ultimately decide the season series after the two teams split a doubleheader on Saturday. The Golden Tornadoes prevailed with a frenzied ninth inning comeback that featured four runs and a come from behind victory that moved Geneva′s overall record to 11-17 on the season.

Geneva managed 14 hits in the game but it was four hits, a Grove City error, a walk and a sacrifice fly that proved to be the difference in the ninth inning. Trailing 11-8 coming into the last frame, Geneva put the first four batters on base with three of those hitters crossing home plate to tie the game. Mike Suluva′s tapper down the third base line that was not handled cleanly plated Justin Acosta with the tying run before Herbie Pegg lofted a sacrifice fly to centerfield scoring Bryan Visingardi with the game winner.

Acosta led the 14 hit attack with a career best 5-5 afternoon with two runs scored and two RBI′s. Adam Scheiderer added three hits and a pair of RBI′s while teammate Bryan Visingardi also had a pair of hits in the victory.

Mike Trn started the game and allowed six earned runs in six innings of work. Tad Forsythe pitched the final three innings and gave up three earned runs but came away with the victory.

The Golden Tornadoes will host Westminster in a doubleheader on Tuesday afternoon at 2 pm before playing a three-game series with Waynesburg over the weekend.
