Beaver Falls, PA - Julie DiLonardo has become a dangerous weapon for the Geneva College softball team. The sophomore pitcher won two more games in the circle for the Golden Tornadoes while also providing some pop at the plate by launching her fourth home run of the season. DiLonardo led Geneva to a 5-2 victory over Grove City in game one and a 7-4 victory in game two to move Geneva′s overall record to 17-13 including four consecutive victories.

Leanne Abate′s two run triple in the second inning of game one got Geneva on the board. The Golden Tornadoes extended their lead on a run scoring triple from Adriane Blake. After Grove City scored in the top of the fourth, DiLonardo led off the bottom of the fourth with her fourth home run of the year. Freshman Lori Deem provided Geneva with some seventh inning insurance with her second homer of the year.

DiLonardo went the distance allowing just four hits and retiring the final nine batters of the game. She struck out five and did not walk a batter in game one.

DiLonardo went 5+ innings in game two before handing the ball over to Ariel Lilly. Lilly allowed two seventh inning runs but picked up her first career save. Coming on in a one run game in the sixth, Lilly got out of the jam to preserve the victory. Geneva′s offense strung together four consecutive two-out hits in the third inning to plate three runs. RBI hits from Samantha Bautista, DiLonardo and Abate gave Geneva a 3-1 lead.

The Golden Tornadoes got much need insurance with a four run seventh capped by a two-run single from Lexi Svingos. Geneva had seven hits in the night cap to pick up the victory.

Geneva will host Penn State Beaver on Thursday at 3:30 before hitting the road on Saturday to play Saint Vincent College.
