Greenville, PA - Geneva College and Thiel College each walked away with a 3-0 victory on Wednesday. The each also were handed a 3-0 loss as the two teams split a doubleheader in Greenville. The split moved Geneva′s overall record to 20-16 on the season.

Thiel took advantage of a Geneva error to post a pair of unearned runs in the fourth inning to break up a scoreless tie. The Tomcats added an insurance run in the sixth inning to extend to a 3-0 lead. Julie DiLonardo was the hard luck loser by allowing just one earned run six innings. She allowed just three hits and struck out six in the loss. Geneva′s offense could only muster five hits including a pair from Lori Deem. Geneva was unable to capitalize in the third inning after a lead-off double from Deem and a walk to Samantha Michetti.

Game two was again dominated by pitching as DiLonardo tossed a four hit shut-out while striking out seven batters. The Golden Tornadoes finally got on the scoreboard with a two-run double from Leanne Abate in the third inning. Samantha Bautista′s solo homer in the fifth inning closed out the scoring. Geneva had five hits in the night cap.

The Golden Tornadoes return home on Saturday to host Waynesburg University in a 1 pm doubleheader.
