Latrobe, PA -It will be a whole new ball game for Geneva College football coach Geno DeMarco when he takes the podium for the 2011 Presidents′ Athletic Conference media day. Beginning next fall, the Golden Tornadoes will become post-season eligible when the four-year Division III provisional phase expires. As for 2010, DeMarco met the media at Saint Vincent College in Latrobe to discuss what could be another successful campaign for DeMarco and his Golden Tornadoes.

Beginning his record 18th year at the helm, DeMarco will be looking to help his team build on an 8-3 record from a year ago which included the fifth NCCAA Victory Bowl title. Geneva will again be seeking a Victory Bowl appearance in 2010 following another challenging schedule within the Presidents′ Athletic Conference.

"Everybody is undefeated at media day," said DeMarco. "We are excited to get the thing started, but we are a long way away from becoming the team we need to be in September."

DeMarco was joined by senior quarterback David Girardi in Latrobe as one of Geneva′s captains for the upcoming season. "It′s my job to provide another year of leadership," said Girardi. "My personal numbers don′t matter to me. The only number that matters is the one in the win column." Girardi need not worry too much about his personal numbers as he set a school record for passing efficiency a year ago with a mark of .623 while guiding Geneva′s offense to 364 points, which was the second highest single season total in school history.

Among a vote of coaches and media on Wednesday, Geneva was predicted to finish the 2010 PAC schedule with a mark of 5-3. The Golden Tornadoes were not included in the conference vote because of their provisional status. Two-time defending PAC champion Thomas More was selected to three-peat with 22 of the possible 30 first place votes. Washington & Jefferson was picked second among those in attendance. D3football.com has both Thomas More and W & J ranked in its pre-season top 25. Thomas More is ranked 13th with the President′s coming in at 21. Geneva will host both ranked teams at Reeves Field in 2010.
