Monaca, PA - Geneva College women′s head coach Linda Sumner gave senior goalkeeper Lauren Londino a well deserved night off after she had posted four shutouts in the first five matches of the season. On Monday, Bethany Podnar stepped in the goal and registered Geneva′s fifth shut-out of the season with a 10-0 victory over Penn State Beaver. The Golden Tornadoes improved to 5-0-1 on the season with the offensive explosion.

Geneva out scored Penn State 5-0 in each half and outshot the Lions 18-2 in the match. Maura Allen continued her scoring streak with the first two goals of the match to move her season total to a team best seven goals. Risa Tillman picked up assists on both opening goals. Sophomore Elise Mann then took over with a pair of goals of her own to double the lead to 4-0. Prior to the first half whistle, Kathryn Wiater notched her first goal of the season to stretch the lead to 5-0.

The second half brought much of the same with five different players finding the net for Geneva. Annissa Halulko, Meg Diemer, Ariel Lilly, Katelyn Slagle and Melissa Byrdy each scored goals in the final 45 minutes of action. Podnar turned away both Penn State shots to earn her first collegiate victory and shut-out.
