Bethany, WV - The Geneva College volleyball team showed some character on Saturday as it was able to quickly recover following a heartbreaking loss in the first of two matches played at Bethany College. The Golden Tornadoes dropped a five set match to the host Bison by scores of 11-25, 25-22, 24-26, 25-21, 13-15. Geneva quickly responded by coming back to defeat Grove City in straight sets by the scores of 25-18, 25-15, 25-16. The split moved Geneva′s overall record to 10-2.

The day started with senior outside hitter Adriane Blake posting 23 kills, three blocks and 17 digs in the loss to Bethany. Brianna Mixter tallied 51 assists and 19 digs. Rachel Kuegler was also solid with a 16 kill performance but it wasn′t enough down the stretch as the Bison held on for the dramatic victory.

Geneva cruised in the second match of the day with Maggie Bowersox leading the way with ten kills and Blake adding eight in the victory. Mixter was again solid as she filled in at the setter position with 29 assists and 20 digs.

The Golden Tornadoes return to Metheny Fieldhouse on Wednesday night for a rematch against Frostburg State which handed Geneva its first loss of the season last Saturday in Maryland.
