Beaver Falls, PA - Geneva and Point Park finally got to play a women′s soccer match after it had been postponed because of lightning a week ago. For the Golden Tornadoes it was well worth the wait following a 2-0 victory that kept Geneva unbeaten and moved its overall record to 8-0-1. The Golden Tornadoes registered their seventh shut-out in nine matches with senior goalkeeper Lauren Londino adding to her career record total of 23 shut-outs including six in 2010.

Despite the defensive standout, the Golden Tornadoes were unable to find the net themselves in the first half. With the match remaining scoreless for the first 55 minutes, Rebecca Shaw blasted a ball into the net in the 56th minute for her fourth goal of the year and third in the last two games. Shaw′s two goals proved to be the difference in Geneva′s victory at LaRoche on Tuesday.

Elise Mann put the icing on the cake for Geneva with a long distance goal of her own in the 78th minute to put the game away. Geneva pounded out 24 shots to Point Park′s 12, including 15 shots on goal. Point Park′s goalkeeper duo of Liz Velez and Anna Shaw turned away a combined 13 of the shots for the match. Londino made six saves in winning her seventh match of the season.

Geneva will again put its unbeaten record on the line on Saturday afternoon when it travels to Marietta College. The Golden Tornadoes return home next Wednesday to face Carlow University at 7 pm.
