Marietta, OH - For the second consecutive match, the Geneva College men′s soccer team had the unenviable task of playing a team looking for its first victory of the season. For the second time in as many outings, the Golden Tornadoes came out on top. On Saturday afternoon, Geneva defeated Marietta 2-1 for its fourth consecutive victory and in the process pushed its overall record to 6-1-1.

Despite a lopsided edge in shots to the tune of 21-6, the Golden Tornadoes were unable to get the knock out punch. "We had so many chances," said head coach Gary Dunda. "We even had a goal called back and it started to get a bit uneasy because we couldn′t put them away. It was a nice road victory and we have to keep rolling with conference play right around the corner." Geneva does indeed open the PAC schedule next Saturday at home against Thomas More but not before Geneva hosts Penn State Beaver on Monday.

On Saturday, Jake McCracken got Geneva on the board in the ninth minute off a set piece with an assist going to David Harwood. Marietta tied the game in the 25th minutes but Geneva quickly responded just two minutes later with the eventual game winner from Teddy Kryswiecki. It was Kryswiecki′s third goal in two games and proved to be the difference. Evan Biedenbach picked up his sixth victory but was only forced to make two saves in the match.

The Golden Tornadoes host Penn State Beaver on Monday at 7 pm prior to the conference opener on Saturday at 4 pm.
