Pittsburgh, PA - The Geneva women′s tennis seemed to be going in the right direction after back to back victories last week that put its overall record above the .500 mark for the first time all season. On Monday, the Golden Tornadoes fell back to 5-5 after dropping an 8-1 decision at Chatham University.

The Golden Tornadoes had defeated the Cougars earlier this year but fell behind quickly with three losses in doubles play to start the day. Kara Zimmerman picked up the lone victory for Geneva in singles action with a 7-5 win in the third set tiebreaker after having split the first two sets. Amy Weller made the most valiant comeback of the day but came up short in a tiebreaker. Trailing 4-1 in the second set, Weller rallied back to win set number two but dropped a 7-5 tiebreak decision to drop the match. Each of the other four singles matches went to Chatham in straight sets.

Geneva heads back to the road on Friday with a match at Bethany before hosting Pitt-Bradford on October 9th at 1 pm.
