David GirardiBeaver Falls, PA – It didn′t look good early for senior quarterback David Girardi and the Geneva football team on Saturday at Bethany College. In the end, both Girardi and the Golden Tornadoes came out smelling like a rose as they rallied from 17 points down to pull out a 37-33 victory over the Bison. Girardi did most of the offensive damage for the Golden Tornadoes and for his efforts was named the NCCAA (National Christian College Athletic Association) football student-athlete of the week.

Girardi completed 20-31 passes for 372 yards and three touchdowns. He connected on a pair of 40 yard touchdowns before hooking up on an 88-yard touchdown pass, which was the third longest connection in school history. The 88 yard touchdown came in the fourth quarter and gave Geneva its first lead of the football game.

Geneva held Bethany out of the end zone from the one yard line on the final play of the game to preserve the victory and move its overall record to 2-2. For the season, Girardi is completing 64% of his passes for 1035 yards and seven touchdowns. He set a school record in 2009 by completing 62.3% of his passes.
