Rochester, NY - It is has already been a memorable season for the Geneva College volleyball team. The Golden Tornadoes matched the best start in school history on Friday night. On Saturday, Geneva turned in another split at the NCCAA East Regional tournament with a 3-0 victory over Nyack and a 3-0 loss to top seeded Mt. Vernon Nazarene. With an overall record of 21-4, the Golden Tornadoes still have a lot of volleyball left to play but they will be left waiting for the phone to ring at the end of the regular season. Because they were unable to win the regional tournament, the Golden Tornadoes must now await a call from the national office at the end of the regular season in hopes of receiving an at-large bid for their first ever trip to the national tournament.

On Saturday, Geneva opened the day with a convincing 3-0 win over Nyack by scores of 25-18, 25-18, 25-20. Adriane Blake led the offense with 14 kills with Maggie Bowersox adding 10 kills. Deanna Briody led the way with 28 assists while Brianna Mixter picked up a team best 15 digs.

Despite playing some of its best ball of the season according to co-head coach Curt Conser, the top seeded Cougars from Mt. Vernon Nazarene proved to be too much for Geneva in a 3-0 decision by scores of 25-20, 25-23, 25-20. Blake had 20 kill with only three errors in the loss while Briody was again solid with her 35 assists in the night cap.

Geneva returns home on Wednesday night after nine straight road matches to play Waynesburg at 7 pm.
