Washington, PA - The only description that Geneva College head men′s soccer coach could give following Geneva′s 1-0 victory over Washington & Jefferson on Saturday was physical. "It was a very physical match," said Dunda. "It was a great win on the road for our guys."
When physical play is involved it is always a good thing to show some muscle. On this afternoon, it was Geneva′s Caleb Musselman that came up with the biggest play of the game. Just 13 minutes into the match, Musselman collected a ball on the left side of the cage and beat the W & J goalkeeper on the low side of the right post. At the time, the goal was big but as the match grew longer, it became the only tally of the game and wound up being a game winner.
Geneva managed four shots in each half and held the President′s to only six shots in the match with sophomore goalkeeper Evan Biedenbach turning away the one and only second half shot on goal to earn his second shut-out of the season.
The Golden Tornadoes improved to 12-2-1 on the season and have won back to back matches after seeing its season long eight game winning streak come to an end last Friday at Grove City. Geneva will travel to Westminster on Wednesday before a road game at Waynesburg and a season finale home match against Saint Vincent on October 30th.
