Beaver Falls, PA - It took all of 50 seconds for the Geneva College women′s soccer team to put its scoring drought to rest. The Golden Tornadoes hadn′t scored a goal in five games but made that a distant memory as they exploded on Saturday for a 9-0 victory over Chatham University. The victory pushed Geneva′s record to 10-5-3 giving the Golden Tornadoes their first double digit winning season since 1998.

Geneva handed Chatham its sixth consecutive loss as the Cougars dropped to 4-12 having now been outscored 45-0 throughout the current six game slide. Maura Allen got Geneva off and running with a goal just 50 seconds into the match that would ultimately turn out to be the game winner but Geneva was far from done offensively on the day.

Elise Mann struck for a pair of goals to extend Geneva′s lead to 3-0. Allen scored again before halftime along with Amanda Munsch, Melissa Byrdy and Katelyn Slagle to give the Golden Tornadoes a commanding 7-0 halftime lead.

Karmyn Culbertson and Nancy Paul found the net in the second half to give Geneva its 9-0 victory. The Golden Tornadoes outshot Chatham 34-0 on the day as Lauren Londino didn′t have to work up a sweat to secure her career best 26th shut-out.

The Golden Tornadoes head to Waynesburg next Wednesday before closing out the regular season at home next Saturday against Saint Vincent.
