Homecoming king and queen: Barnabas Prontnicki and Rebecca FaithIn the blink of an eye, Geneva College′s 2010 Homecoming came and went. Keeping with tradition, a peer-elected court was nominated prior to the October 9 Homecoming football game against Waynesburg. During the halftime festivities, the king and queen were crowned. This year′s king and queen were Barnabas Prontnicki, a senior Communications major, and Rebecca Faith, a senior Elementary Education major.

The king and queen, along with the court, were elected by their peers. This included six seniors, Julia Johnston (Spanish, Stevensville, Md.), Brian Wright (Biblical Studies, Arlington, Md.), Benjamin Gibbons (Christian Ministries, Hastings, Pa.), Nancy Gladfelter (Human Services, Edgemont, Pa.), and of course our king and queen, Barnabas Prontnicki (Communications, Maple Glen, Pa.) and Rebecca Faith (Elementary Ed., Philadelphia, Pa.).

The junior representatives were Rachel Crone (History, Warren, Pa.) and Chris Carter (Christian Ministries, Washington, Pa.).

Hannah Moore (Math Ed., Lewistown, Pa.) and Matt Marino (Communications, Olean, N.J.) were the two sophomore class representatives.

Finally, two freshmen were also selected to represent their class - Lauren Richley (Elementary Ed., Pittsburgh, Pa.) and Christian Mijares (Business, Potomac Falls, Va.).

Prontnicki and Faith both attended Phil-Mont Christian Academy in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and graduated in 2007. As their college careers come to a close, Barnabas hopes to either travel or continue his schooling, while Rebecca can′t wait to get in front of a classroom and start teaching.

The theme for this year′s homecoming was “Into All the World,” a celebration of the Great Commission from Matthew 28:19. A variety of ethnic entertainment and food, along with many domestic booths, lined the pedestrian mall. When the clock struck four, the football game at Reeves Field became the new center of attention. The stadium saw a record crowd of 7,045.
