Beaver Falls, PA – The love for football starts at a very young age in Western Pennsylvania. From the time you can put a helmet on your head, the youth of this region begin dreaming big about what their football future may hold. The Beaver County Youth Football League has provided an avenue for those young dreams to be realized and on Saturday afternoon some of those talents will be on display at Reeves Field on the campus of Geneva College.

Geneva Bowl I will take place on Saturday afternoon as Hopewell and Brighton Township will match up in a termite and mighty mite doubleheader prior to Geneva College facing Washington & Jefferson in the main event. Supported by the many sponsors across Beaver County, Geneva Bowl I has evolved into a huge event in an effort to showcase youth football across the region. The termites will kick things off at 12 noon with the mighty mite game to follow at 2 p.m. All four teams will be wearing black and gold jerseys to promote Golden Tornadoes′ football, with each player also receiving gift bags and awards at halftime of the Geneva College game later that night.

Youth football week has become an annual tradition on College Hill but the 2010 Geneva Bowl will be the first in a series of youth football games happening at Reeves Field once a year. “These kids represent the future of Beaver County,” said Geneva College sports information director Van Zanic. “It is amazing how much support has been offered throughout the county for this event. Anytime we can package youth football with anything that goes on at Geneva, it is a win-win situation. This will be an outstanding opportunity for these kids to enjoy a very special day on Geneva′s campus. More importantly, it gives us at Geneva College an opportunity to recognize the work that is being done at the youth football level.”

The Golden Tornadoes will take on perennial powerhouse Washington & Jefferson in the day′s main event with the kickoff scheduled for 7 p.m. Geneva will be seeking its first home victory of the season and will be looking to knock off W & J for the first time since 1983.
