Beaver Falls, PA - Senior guard Brian Hill was held scoreless in Geneva′s 83-78 loss to LaRoche last Saturday night. The long distance specialist was left just eight points shy of the 1000 point plateau for his career. He was not about to suffer a similar fate against Washington & Jefferson on Wednesday. Hill rained down seven three point field goals on just eight attempts in leading Geneva to an 84-69 victory over W & J to improve to 4-1 on the season.

Needing just eight points for 1000, Hill put up a game high 27 in becoming the men′s 35th member of the 1000 point club. Hill was 7-10 from the field, all of which coming from outside the three-point arc and a perfect 6-6 from the foul line. Hill got some long distance help from Drew Santarsiero, who put up four three-pointers in the second half and finished with 13 points. As a team, the Golden Tornadoes made 13 three point field goals on 23 attempts. "We needed to hit three-pointers based on what they were giving us," said head coach Jeff Santarsiero. "We need to be more patient on the offensive end of the floor, but when shots are falling like they were tonight, I say just keep on shooting."

The two teams went to the locker room tied at 31-31. After five minutes, the game was still knotted at 39-39, but Geneva then scored nine of the next ten points to open up an eight point lead. Geneva would never give up the lead and would lead by as many as 18 points before settling for the 15 point victory. "We are learning how to close out games," said Santarsiero. "When your big gun is on the bench for most of the night with foul trouble, we need other guys to pick up the slack." Leading scorer Rich Colick played only 15 minutes and finished with ten points. Lambros Svingos was Geneva′s other double digit scorer with 14 points to go along with a team best six rebounds.

Geneva heads to Thiel on Saturday to open a three-game road trip that takes the Golden Tornadoes to Penn State Beaver on Monday and Malone on Wednesday. Geneva returns home a week from Saturday to face Bethany at 7:30 pm.
