Beaver Falls, PA - The Geneva College women′s basketball team came into Saturday night′s game with Bethany having not lost on the Metheny Fieldhouse floor all season. The Golden Tornadoes seemed as though they were on their way to another home victory but were unable to hold off the Bison in a 67-59 loss. The loss dropped Geneva to 5-4 heading into an extended holiday break.

Bethany took a 34-32 lead into the locker room, but the Golden Tornadoes came back to lead by as many as six points in the second half but were unable to hold onto that lead. Bethany′s Audra Droginski played the role of the bad guy with 25 points as the only Bethany player to put up double digits. Droginske was 8-10 from the field including a perfect 5-5 night from three-point range. It was three second half treys that made the difference. "We ran into a real hot shooter," said Geneva coach Renee Drake. "We didn′t do a good enough job finding her in the second half and good shooters will make you pay a hefty price."

Geneva trailed by only three points with less than a minute to play but the Bison were able to connect on all of their foul shots in the closing seconds and finished 26-33 from the charity stripe for the game.

Alyse Scarsella led Geneva′s offensive attack with 18 points while Valerie Hamilton scored 13 points and Beth DeLuca added ten in the loss. "We did some good things on offense," said Drake. "We just were unable to get it done on the defensive end of the court down the stretch."

The Golden Tornadoes will have to let this loss set in for a while as they will have 19 days off before traveling to Carlow University on December 30th. Geneva returns to Metheny Fieldhouse to host nationally ranked Thomas More on January 3rd.
