Beaver Falls, PA - While the Geneva College men′s basketball team is currently enjoying a two-week break for the holidays, head coach Jeff Santarsiero and the Golden Tornadoes received an early Christmas present from the NCCAA (National Christian College Athletic Association). Following a 6-3 overall record through the first nine games, Geneva entered the NCCAA rankings for the first time this season and finds itself at number seven in the most recent poll.

The Golden Tornadoes opened the season with three consecutive victories and continued to play well throughout the first semester. Perhaps the biggest eye opening victory of the first half came last week when the Golden Tornadoes shocked 22nd ranked Malone University of the NAIA by the score of 81-77.

Geneva, which was unranked in the NCCAA poll a week ago, leapfrogged the likes of Malone, Grace College and King College. Dallas Baptist (6-3) held on to the top spot for another week, while Indiana Wesleyan (10-3), Oklahoma Wesleyan (13-0), Emmanuel (13-0) and Palm Beach Atlantic (7-4) round out the top five.

The Golden Tornadoes will be back in action at the Case Western Reserve tournament on December 29-30. Geneva opens the tournament against Kalamazoo College. The Golden Tornadoes return home to face Thomas More College on January 3rd at 7:30 pm.
