Cleveland, OH - Geneva College head track and field coach Bryan Yowler is preparing his team for the upcoming season. On Friday, the second year head coach took 20 of his student-athletes to compete at Baldwin-Wallace for the first indoor meet of the season. "We don′t have everyone quite ready for competition," said Yowler. "But the athletes that are ready to compete did an outstanding job for us."

Out of the 20 athletes that competed on Friday, six of them have already qualified for the NCCAA national indoor track and field meet. Highlighting the day′s events was sophomore Nick Edinger′s performance in the 5K event. Edinger took home a first place finish and an NCCAA qualifying time of 16:09.93. Fellow teammates Dan Dillman (shot put), Corey Fraction (55 meter) and Shaka Sydnor (Triple Jump) also qualified for the national meet in February.

In women′s action, Aisha Moore brought home a third place finish and a qualifying performance in the triple jump. Moore′s final distance of 32-03 feet was good enough for her to qualify next month. Perhaps the most exciting news of the day was that of freshman Kathryn Regalado. Competing in her first college meet, Regalado managed to qualify nationally with a fifth place finish in the shot put with a distance of 37-07.25.

The Golden Tornadoes will not compete this coming weekend but will be back in action at Mt. Union College on February 5th.
