College Transition InitiativeGeneva College is sponsoring the College Transition Seminar during the 2011 Jubilee Conference on Saturday, February 19, 2011 from 3-9:30 p.m. at the Westin Convention Center. Intended for high school students, parents and youth pastors, the seminar helps participants understand the pressures of college life and prepares students to live their Christian faith on campus.

The cost for the event is $20, which includes the seminar and an interactive dinner with current college students. The evening concludes with participants joining the Saturday evening Jubilee plenary session.

The College Transition Seminar is led by Derek Melleby, director of the College Transition Initiative (CTI) and 2004 graduate of Geneva′s master of arts in higher education program. Melleby is the author of Make College Count: A Faithful Guide to Life and Learning and co-author of The Outrageous Idea of Academic Faithfulness. The CTI began in 2005 as a combined effort of the Center for Parent/Youth Understanding (CPYU) and the Coalition for Christian Outreach (CCO) and aims to help students, parents, pastors, and educators prepare for the transition from high school to college life.
