Beaver Falls, PA - It really hasn′t mattered where the Geneva College women meet the Saint Vincent College women during the long-time series between the schools. On Saturday night, the Bearcats continued their dominance over the Golden Tornadoes with an 8-67 decision that dropped Geneva to 8-13 on the season while Saint Vincent continued to roll to a 19-2 overall mark.

Saint Vincent has now defeated Geneva six straight times and leads the all-time series 49-12. However, Geneva made the Bearcats work much harder this time around following a 30-point loss in Latrobe earlier this season. The Golden Tornadoes went down by seven points early but rallied to within three points at 28-25 with just less than five minutes to play in the first half. The Bearcats scored the final nine points of the first half and the first seven points of the second half to open up a 19 point lead. Saint Vincent led by as many as 22 points in the game but the Golden Tornadoes did make it somewhat interesting late in the second half. Geneva managed to cut the lead under double digits with four minutes to play but could never make a serious threat. "We showed flashes of really good play tonight," said head coach Renee Drake. "We have to put together a 40 minute effort to beat a team of this caliber and it just wasn′t there for 40 minutes."

Geneva turned the ball over 26 times and as a result allowed the Bearcats to take 20 more shots at the rim on the night. Despite shooting nearly 40% from the field, Geneva was forced to watch Saint Vincent put up 73 shots at the basket. While Saint Vincent got 23 points from Devin McGrath and 20 from Brittany Sedlock, the Golden Tornadoes were turning to junior Alyse Scarsella for the majority of their production. Scarsella finished the night with 27 points and a season high 17 rebounds in the loss. She pulled down ten offensive rebounds in a losing cause. Christine Carugati was the only Geneva player in double figures with 11 points.

The Golden Tornadoes will host Chatham on Wednesday night at 7 pm before traveling to Grove City next Saturday afternoon.
