Grove City, PA - Six hours before the tip-off between Geneva and Grove City, Golden Tornadoes′ head coach Jeff Santarsiero was warning his team about the dangers of playing the Wolverines. During a morning shoot around, the 15 year head coach told his guys that Grove City would be hungry for an upset. Santarsiero was right about getting a handful from one of Geneva′s biggest rivals; however, the Golden Tornadoes did find a way to hold off Grove City by the score of 61-58.

"There was no doubt that this game was going to come down to the wire," said Santarsiero. "The records really mean nothing when we get together and we knew they would want nothing more than to knock us off." Midway through the second half, it appeared as though Geneva was ready to cruise to an easy victory. With the score tied at 32 early in the second half, the Golden Tornadoes scored ten straight points and 14 of the next 16 points to open up a 46-34 lead following a three-point field goal from Bryan Hill. Grove City was not done, however, as the Wolverines came storming back to get within two points at 46-44 with eight minutes remaining in regulation. "Give Grove City a lot of credit for coming back in the second half. Our guys were able to get back to our game and come up with some big shots down the stretch."

Grove City′s Mike Grist hit a three-pointer with 1:15 left to play to give Grove City a 58-57 lead. A pair of Rich Colick free throws reclaimed Geneva′s lead with 52 seconds left before two more free throws from Bryan Hill increased the lead to three points. Grove City never got a shot to tie the game and the Golden Tornadoes held on for a season sweep against the Wolverines.

Colick led the way for Geneva with 23 points while Bryan Hill added 14 points including four three point field goals. Lambros Svingos recorded his second double-double of the season with 11 points and 14 rebounds.

Geneva will close out the regular season with a game at Westminster on Wednesday followed by the home final next Saturday against Waynesburg.
