Kissimmee, FL - First the Geneva College softball team extended its win streak then saw it snapped in game two of Friday′s doubleheader. The Golden Tornadoes rallied to defeat Ursinus College 3-2 in eight innings before falling to Mt. Union 4-1. The loss to the Raiders ended Geneva′s five game winning streak and put the Golden Tornadoes at 5-3 for the season.

After Geneva spotted Ursinus a 2-0 lead in the top of the third inning, it posted two runs of its own in the bottom half of the inning. After Leah Prisuta led off with a triple, Christine Fuqua and Ashley Davis delivered run scoring singles to tie the game. It stayed that way until the bottom of the eighth inning. With first and third and two outs, Anjelica Marsh′s infield pop-up was dropped and Davis crossed home plate carrying the winning run. Julie DiLonardo went the distance in picking up her fourth victory of the season. She struck out three batters and allowed six hits. Marsh, Adriane Blake and Ashley Davis each had two hits in the victory.

Liz Wechter′s RBI double in the second inning of game two tied the score at 1-1 against Mt. Union, but the Geneva offense was held to just three hits in the game. A pair of Mt. Union runs in the fifth and another in the sixth was enough to end Geneva′s winning streak at five games. DiLonardo went 4.1 innings and was handed her second loss of the season.

The Golden Tornadoes will face William Paterson and Skidmore College on Saturday afternoon in games nine and ten of a 12-game Florida schedule that concludes on Monday.
