Clearwater, FL – It was a new day with the same story for the Geneva College baseball team. Just one day after posting 24 runs in a doubleheader sweep over Valley Forge Christian, the Golden Tornadoes took two more games from Valley Forge by scores of 10-6 and 13-2. The wins pushed Geneva′s overall record to 8-1 and moved its win streak to eight straight.
A pair of freshmen hurlers each picked up their first career victories. Ross Potts went 5.1 innings in game one for the win. He allowed seven hits and struck out five in the victory. Caleb Kilgore got the win in game two with a five inning effort in allowing five hits and striking out five.
The Golden Tornadoes banged out ten hits in game one including a pair from Joel Gatti and Noah Medich. Gatti had two doubles and a pair of RBI′s while Medich also knocked in a pair. In game two, Geneva picked p 12 hits including two each from Jeremy Herzog, Adam Teets and Jon Bushmire. Jon Jurinko went 3-4 in the night cap with a pair of runs batted in.
Geneva will enjoy the weekend off before closing out its Florida swing on Monday with a pair of games against Clearwater Christian.
