Beaver Falls, PA – The Geneva College softball team split a doubleheader for the second time in as many days. On Saturday, the Golden Tornadoes dropped a 6-1 decision to William Paterson before cruising past Skidmore 8-0 in five innings. The split moved Geneva′s record to 6-4 with just two games remaining on its Florida trip.

Geneva scored first in game one on an RBI single off the bat of Ashley Davis. The lead was short-lived as WPU tied the game in the second and took the lead with two more runs in the third. Geneva had a chance to break the game open when it loaded the bases with one out in the second inning but was unable to dent the scoreboard. Geneva left seven runners on base in the loss as WPU opened up the lead with three more runs in the fifth inning. Anjelica Marsh had two of Geneva′s six hits including a seventh inning double.

Ariel Lilly did not need much offense in the night cap, but she got it anyway. Lilly tossed a two-hit shut-out with two strikeouts and no walks. Geneva scored four runs in the second and two each in the third and fourth innings to break the game open. Ashley Davis scored three runs with a pair of hits and RBI′s. Leanne Abate also had two hits as part of Geneva′s eight hit attack.
