Beaver Falls, PA - The Geneva College softball team won a pair of games on Tuesday afternoon over Point Park University by the scores of 11-3 and 5-2. The doubleheader sweep helped move Geneva′s overall record to 10-6 as the Golden Tornadoes enjoyed some more home cooking on their home field. Geneva is playing on its campus field for the fourth year and improved its all-time home record to 42-10 with the doubleheader sweep.

After spotting Point Park a 3-0 lead heading to the bottom of the third, Geneva finally got its offense in gear. Ashley Davis provided a clutch two-out single to plate the first two runs and then Leanne Abate added an RBI double to tie the game. The Golden Tornadoes batted around in the fourth inning and scored five runs to break the game open. RBI singles from Martha Adams, Davis and Abate highlighted the rally. In the fifth inning, Geneva ended the game due to the eight run mercy rule. Christina Fuqua and Lead Prisuta each had run scoring singles in the fifth. Julie DiLonardo came on in the fourth inning to earn her sixth victory of the season. She retired all five hitters she faced for the victory. Abate ended game one with three hits while Prisuta, Davis and Fuqua each had a pair in Geneva′s 12 hit attack.

DiLonardo pitched a complete game in the night cap for her seventh victory. She allowed one earned run on four hits while striking out four. Prisuta was 3-4 in game two while scoring a pair of runs. She got Geneva on the board in the first inning when she scored on Adriane Blake′s RBI groundout. Prisuta knocked in Geneva′s second run in the second inning with a two-out base hit. The Golden Tornadoes posted a pair of big insurance runs in the fourth inning on Adam′s two-out, two-run double. Geneva pounded out 11 more hits in the night cap.

The Golden Tornadoes are scheduled to travel to Ursuline on Saturday afternoon for a 1 pm doubleheader. They return home next Wednesday for a twin bill against Penn State Beaver.
