Pittsburgh, PA - There are some games when an offense picks up its pitcher and there are other games when it is all about the pitching. The doubleheader between Geneva and Chatham was all about the pitching. Junior hurler Julie DiLonardo help Chatham to one run in the twin bill as the Golden Tornadoes snuck past the Cougars by the scores of 2-0 and 2-1. The sweep pushed Geneva′s current win streak to seven games and moved its overall record to 14-8.

DiLonardo struck out nine batters and allowed just four hits in game one in pitching a complete game shut-out. The only offense of the game came in the top of the fifth on an RBI double from Leanne Abate and a sacrifice fly off the bat of Christina Fuqua. The Golden Tornadoes managed only five hits in game one with three of those knocks coming off the bat of Ashley Davis.

DiLonardo continued her dominance in the second game of the doubleheader again allowing just four hits. She only struck out four in game two and did allow an earned run in the sixth inning. Geneva scored first when Leah Prisuta tripled and Martha Adams followed with a run scoring double to lead off the fourth inning. Chatham tied the game in the sixth inning before the Golden Tornadoes picked up the game winner in the bottom of the sixth. After a Prisuta walk and stolen base to open the inning, Adriane Blake capped the scoring with a sacrifice fly that proved to be the difference. Prisuta and Adams each had two hits in the night cap as the Golden Tornadoes picked up just five hits once again.

Geneva will travel to Westminster on Saturday afternoon for another doubleheader scheduled to begin at 1 pm.
