New Wilmington, PA - Geneva watched Westminster rally back from three runs down in the first game to steal away a victory. The Golden Tornadoes tried the same trick in the night cap and came up just short. In both cases, Geneva fell to Westminster 5-4 in a doubleheader loss on Saturday afternoon. The losses dropped Geneva′s overall record to 13-10 on the season.

Both teams traded runs in the first inning of game one with the Golden Tornadoes striking first on a Mike Jeffreys RBI single. Geneva then took the lead with three runs in the second inning highlighted by a bases clearing triple from Jon Jurinko. The bad news for the Geneva offense was that it would not manage to dent the scoreboard for the final five innings of the game as Westminster chipped away. The Titans rallied for three runs in the fourth inning to tie the game before plating the game winner in the fifth. Geneva banged out nine hits including two each for Jeffreys, Noah Medich and Mike Suluva. Mike Trn went 3.2 innings and allowed four runs on five hits to take the loss.

Westminster scored runs in the first three innings of game two to open up a 4-0 lead. After Geneva plated a run in the fourth on a Noah Medich RBI single, Westminster quickly responded with a run in the bottom of the inning. Trailing 5-1 into the seventh inning, Geneva made a desperate rally. RBI singles from Bryan Visingardi and Mike Jeffrey′s cut the lead to just one as the Golden Tornadoes had the tying run on second base with one out. Jurinko lined out to left and Justin McGurgan flied out to center to end the game. Doug Sanson went the distance for Geneva in the loss. He pitched six innings and allowed nine hits and four earned runs while striking out five.

The Golden Tornadoes are scheduled to make-up Friday′s rain out with Westminster on Monday at 4 pm at Geneva.
