Beaver Falls, PA - The weather finally cooperated long enough for the Geneva College softball team to get back onto the field on Wednesday. The Golden Tornadoes split a pair of games with Baldwin-Wallace. Geneva won game one by the score of 8-2 before falling 5-0 in the night cap. Geneva moved its overall record to 16-8 while Baldwin-Wallace moved to 15-6.

Geneva opened the scoring with a pair of unearned runs in the first inning. Adriane Blake and Ashley Davis scored on an outfield error to give the Golden Tornadoes the early lead. Geneva tacked on another run in the third inning on an RBI single from Martha Adams. B-W crept closer with single runs in the fourth and fifth before Geneva put the game out of reach with a five spot in the fifth inning. After two outs, Geneva put together four consecutive singles including an RBI from Blake and Davis. With the bases still loaded, Christina Fuqua came up with a bases clearing double to give Geneva some insurance. Julie DiLonardo would not need that insurance as she picked up her 12th victory of the season by going the distance and allowing just two earned runs. She only struck out one batter but allowed only six hits in the victory.

Baldwin-Wallace took control of game two early with four runs in the first inning. Starting pitcher Ariel Lilly settled down after that and allowed just one unearned run on two hits over the final six innings. Geneva′s offense had chances but finished the game going 0-8 with runners in scoring position. Geneva managed just five hits in the game with Martha Adams and Christina Fuqua supplying two knocks each.

The Golden Tornadoes will get back into PAC action on Thursday when they host Washington & Jefferson at 3:30 pm.
