Waynesburg, PA - Geneva and Waynesburg had to wait 48 hours to complete their doubleheader because of inclement weather on Saturday. Each team picked up a victory on Monday with the Yellowjackets taking game one 9-5 and Geneva turning the tables for a 3-2 victory in the night cap. The Golden Tornadoes moved their overall record to 15-14 with the split.

Geneva opened the scoring in game one on Jon Jurinko′s RBI triple in the third inning. Jurinko was a perfect 4-4 in the first game with an RBI and a run scored. Waynesburg posted three runs in the bottom of the third and another in the fourth. Geneva′s run in the fourth inning came courtesy of a Noah Medich RBI single. Jeremy Herzog had an RBI single in the sixth and Adam Scheiderer launched a two-run homer in the seventh but it wasn′t enough as the Yellowjackets broke open the game with a five run sixth inning. Matt Baer got the loss in 5.1 innings of work and five earned runs. He struck out five and did not walk a batter.

In game two, Doug Sanson went the distance and earned the victory. Sanson allowed just five hits and two earned runs in seven innings of work. Jurinko′s big offensive day continued in the night cap with a solo homer in the first inning to open the scoring. Mike Jeffrey′s gave Geneva a 2-1 lead with a bases loaded walk in the fifth. With the score tied at 2-2 in the sixth, Scheiderer struck again with a solo blast to give Geneva a lead it would never relinquish. Geneva had seven hits in game two with Mike Suluva provided a pair.

Geneva is scheduled to get back to work on Tuesday with a home doubleheader scheduled for 2 pm against Bethany College.
