Geneva College′s annual J. G. Vos Memorial Lecture will take place on Thursday, April 14 in Skye Lounge of the Student Center. This year′s speaker is Dr. Greg Beale, Professor of New Testament and Biblical Theology at Westminster Theological Seminary. Dr. Beale will present a public lecture at 7 p.m. on "The Eschatological Conception of New Testament Theology."
Dr. Beale was the chair of Biblical studies and professor of New Testament at Wheaton College, prior to serving at Westminster. He has written particularly in the area of the use of the Old Testament in the New, Pauline studies, eschatology, biblical theology, and apocalyptism. His publications include The Erosion of Inerrancy in Evangelicalism: Responding to New Challenges to Biblical Authority, We Become Like What We Worship: A Biblical Theology of Idolatry, A Commentary on the New Testament Use of the Old Testament, The Temple and the Church's Mission: A Biblical Theology of the Dwelling Place of God, and The Use of Daniel in Jewish Apocalyptic Literature: And in the Revelation of St. John. Dr. Beale received both his B.A. and M.A. from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas. He received his Th.M. from Dallas Theological Seminary and his Ph.D. from the University of Cambridge in Cambridge, England.
While at Geneva, Dr. Beale will also speak at two luncheons. The first is for pastors on Thursday, April 14 at 12 p.m. on "We Become Like What We Worship: Isaiah 6." On Friday, April 15, Dr. Beale will present "The Implications of Idolatry for the Liberal Arts and Professions" during a faculty luncheon at 12 p.m.
