Beaver Falls, PA - The Geneva College softball team has been playing the waiting game for over a week in anticipation of the NCCAA national tournament in Troutville, VA on May 12th. On Sunday, the Golden Tornadoes learned their initial path through the tournament as the eight berths and seeds were handed out. The Golden Tornadoes received the number eight seed in the eight-team national field. Geneva (25-11) will open the tournament against top seeded Central Baptist University (52-4) on Thursday at 4 pm.

Geneva, coming in as the only NCAA Division III member, will be going up against seven scholarship programs including Central Baptist, which is currently ranked 4th in the most recent NAIA national poll.

Simpson, CA (25-16) received the number two seed and will open up against seventh seeded Judson, IL (32-16). Third seeded Cedarville, OH (31-19) will face sixth seeded Campbellsville, KY (33-25) while fourth seed North Greenville, SC (19-24) will battle fifth seed Covenant, GA (22-12).

Each team will play a first round game on Thursday with the next three rounds continuing on Friday afternoon and evening. The NCCAA national champion will be crowned on Saturday afternoon.

"We have been given a great opportunity to compete against the best teams that the NCCAA has to offer," said head coach Van Zanic. "We are privileged to have the chance to compete against a program like Central Baptist in the first round. They are the defending national champions and have enjoyed another amazing season."

"Our ladies have worked extremely hard to get to the national stage and our hope is to represent the East Region and Geneva College with great respect."

Geneva will be making its third overall trip to the NCCAA national tournament and its first since 2006.

Each game of the national tournament will be available for live streaming and live stats with the links for both becoming accessible early in the week. The Golden Tornadoes will be heading to Virginia on Tuesday afternoon to begin the week′s festivities.
