Geneva College congratulates the graduates of the Center for Urban Theological Studies (CUTS). Baccalaureate will take place on Friday, June 3 at 7 p.m. and commencement will be on Saturday, June 4 at 10 a.m. Both ceremonies will be held at the Christian Stronghold Baptist Church, located on 4701 Lancaster Ave., Philadelphia, PA.

Pastor Donald Burems Sr. will present the baccalaureate message. Pastor Burems is an alumnus of CUTS and received his bachelor of science in urban ministry with honors in 2004. He earned a Master of Divinity from the Lutheran Theological Seminary of Philadelphia in 2007 and is currently the senior pastor of the St. John African Methodist Episcopal Church of Paschall.

Dr. Eli Morris is the commencement speaker. He currently serves on the senior management team for Hope Presbyterian Church in Cordova, TN, which is the second largest Presbyterian church in the U.S, and was the first executive director and adjunct professor of urban ministry of the Memphis Center for Urban Theological Studies (MCUTS). Dr. Morris received his bachelor of science in education from the University of Memphis. He earned his Master of Divinity with honors from Memphis Theological Seminary and his Doctor of Ministry from Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena, CA. As an advocate speaker at national conferences, Dr. Morris focuses on the topics of church growth, urban ministry and mission outreach.

During commencement, an honorary Doctor of Law degree will be presented to Mr. Young Park, Esq. As the president of the Korean-American Association of Greater Philadelphia, Park employs more than 20 attorneys at his law office. Mr. Park is a Christian leader who has been instrumental in promoting the Korean Program at CUTS as a spokesman in both the Asian-American communities and in South Korea.

Geneva College has partnered with CUTS since 1979 to train leaders to serve in the urban church, community and marketplace as well as offer a Korean program. CUTS provides accredited degrees through the partnership with Geneva, allowing students to pursue associate degrees in biblical studies or administration, and bachelor′s degrees in Bible and ministry, human resources, human services, or urban ministry leadership.
