Geneva College welcomes Kathy Kinzer to the Student Development staff as Director of Multicultural Student Services. Kinzer is a member of the Coalition for Christian Outreach (CCO) and serves as Coordinator of Jubilee Africana and Jubilee Latino. She has been working with college students for the past five years and is excited to bring her gifts and abilities to the Geneva community.
An important aspect of Kinzer′s job will be to help identify and recruit students from diverse backgrounds. She will also lead efforts to mentor and serve students during their time at Geneva by advising programs and initiatives for minority and first generation students.
Kinzer is eager to get to know the students and become involved in their lives. "I'm here to learn and support the student body. I want them to feel comfortable in their surroundings and make the Lord their focus."
She has been working with college students for the past five years, including three years serving college students in the Philadelphia area. Kinzer served as Assistant Women′s Tennis Coach at Arcadia University and worked with students from the gospel choir and dance team as well. Since moving to the Pittsburgh area, Kinzer has worked and served with students from Duquesne University and has taken on the role of coordinator of Jubilee Africana and Jubilee Latino. This conference reaches college students of African and Latino descent by addressing the issues relevant to those communities.
Originally from southern Maryland, Kinzer moved to Philadelphia for ministry and has now settled in Pittsburgh for the last two years. She is currently pursuing a Master of Divinity degree from the Pittsburgh Theology Seminary (PTS).
Kinzer is excited to bring an emphasis on outreach to her new role at Geneva. "My time at seminary will be a useful resource to share the gospel," she says.
