Alliance, OH - In less than 24 hours the Geneva College women′s volleyball team experienced the high of winning its first two matches of the new season and the low of dropping a pair of matches on Saturday. After taking the first two matches at the University of Mount Union tournament on Friday night, the Golden Tornadoes dropped matches to Hope and Case Western on day two.

Geneva opened the day with a heartbreaking 3-2 loss to Hope by scores of 25-17, 23-25, 25-16, 14-25, 8-15. Leading two games to one, the Golden Tornadoes watched 17th ranked Hope rally to take games four and five to squeak out the victory. Kristland McCracken led the offense with 13 kills while teammate Ashley Davis added ten and Maggie Bowersox chipped in with seven kills. Brianna Mixter picked up 26 digs to lead the defense while Bowersox also contributed with four blocks.

In match number two of the day, Geneva watched Case Western dominate play in three straight games by scores of 20-25, 19-25, 11-25. Deanna Briody picked up 26 assists while Bowersox led the offense with ten kills.

Geneva opens PAC play on Wednesday night with a match at Washington & Jefferson before hosting both Grove City and Waynesburg next Saturday at Metheny Fieldhouse.
