Pittsburgh, PA - Geneva scored two first half goals on Friday night in the season opener against Carnegie Mellon University but was unable to hold the advantage as the two teams played to a 2-2 tie. On Saturday, the Golden Tornadoes managed only one goal but it was all they would need in a 1-0 decision over Otterbein on day two of the Carnegie Mellon University tournament. The Golden Tornadoes pushed their record to 1-0-1 with the decision as it was once again senior Jake McCracken finding the net for the victory.

After both teams went to the halftime break scoreless, it was McCracken who found the back of the net in the 54th minute on a penalty kick for the only score of the game. Geneva controlled the field position and the tempo for the majority of the game. In fact, the Golden Tornadoes out shot Otterbein 15-8. Freshman goalkeeper Bryan Butler, making his first collegiate start, played all 90 minutes and made three saves in picking up his first win and first collegiate shut-out.

The Golden Tornadoes will open their home schedule on Tuesday night at Merriman Complex when they welcome Fredonia State for a 7 pm kickoff.
