Geneva College (0-1)

Vs.

Albright College (1-0)

Saturday, September 10 - 6:00 pm

Gene L. Shirk Stadium

Beaver Falls, PA - Geneva College will take to the road on Saturday for the first time in 2011. The Golden Tornadoes will be looking to rebound following a 34-21 season opening loss to Frostburg State last weekend. It was the first time in three years that Geneva has dropped its season opener as they fell for the fifth time in the last six games on the home turf of Reeves Field. Geneva and Albright will be hooking up for the second consecutive year after Lions defeated Geneva 54-27 in Beaver Falls in 2010. Geneva has never beaten Albright in three tries in a series that opened in the 1937 season with Albright defeating Geneva 20-0.

In last year′s game, Albright used three Josan Holmes touchdowns to take care of the Golden Tornadoes. Albright racked up over 500 yards of total offense and nearly 300 yard on the ground in the second game of the year last fall. Holmes registered 225 yards rushing to go along with his three touchdowns. He was back at last weekend in Albright′s season opening victory over Ursinus. The Lions opened the year with a 24-17 victory over Ursinus thanks to a 17-0 rally in the second half after trailing by ten at halftime. Holmes rushed for a pair of touchdowns and finished the game with 110 yards on the ground.

While Albright was rallying for a season opening victory, Geneva was busy watching Frostburg State raise the curtain on its season with a 34-21 decision. Frostburg opened the game with 14 points in the first four minutes before the Golden Tornadoes responded with a pair of touchdowns of their own. Jordan Curry and AJ Delmonico both found the end zone for first half touchdowns to tie the game. A late Corey O′Patchen touchdown would not be enough to overcome a Frostburg State running attack that racked up 222 yards on the ground. Red shirt sophomore Zack Hayward threw for 299 yards in his first collegiate start and Delmonico pulled in eight catches for 109 yards in the season opener.

The Golden Tornadoes will head back to the road next Saturday for the first Presidents′ Athletic Conference match-up. Geneva will make its way to Crestview Hills, KY to take on the three-time defending PAC champion Thomas More. The Golden Tornadoes return home on September 24th to battle Bethany College. Albright will host Wilkes College on September 17th.
