Beaver Falls, PA - It was going to be an exciting afternoon on College Hill as the Geneva College men′s soccer team welcomed the defending NCAA Division III national champion and top ranked Messiah College team to Reeves Field. It didn′t take long for Messiah to take all of the excitement out of the air as the Falcons dismantled a Geneva team that had won five matches in a row by the score of 8-0. Messiah improved to 7-0-1 on the season while the Golden Tornadoes fell to 6-2-1 in 2011.

Messiah, the alma mater of Geneva College head coach Gary Dunda, put pressure on the Geneva defense for 90 minutes. It took just six minutes for Messiah to dent the scoreboard and that was just the beginning as six different players found the net in the first half as the Falcons cruised to a 6-0 halftime lead.

Two more goals in the final stanza gave Messiah the eight goal advantage as it also managed to out shoot Geneva 25-10 for the match. The Golden Tornadoes put just three shots on goal for the game and each was turned away as Jake Berry and Brandon West combined for the Messiah shut-out. Geneva also split the game in goal as Evan Biedenbach played the first 45 minutes with Bryan Butler coming into the action for the second half.

The Golden Tornadoes will travel to Muskingum on Wednesday as the last non-conference tune up before conference play begins next Saturday as Geneva hosts Washington & Jefferson at 1:30 pm.
