Marietta, OH - One week after coming home winless from the Hiram College Tournament, the Geneva College volleyball team came home undefeated from the Marietta College Tournament. The Golden Tornadoes capped off their tournament win with victories over John Carroll and Marietta on Saturday. Geneva defeated John Carroll 3-0 by scores of 25-22, 27-25, 25-15 before taking care of host Marietta 3-1 by game scores of 25-22, 20-25, 25-21, 25-14. The doubleheader sweep improved Geneva′s overall record to 10-6 while it still remains unbeaten in conference play at 5-0.

In the victory over John Carroll, the Golden Tornadoes got 35 assists and 18 digs from Deanna Briody. Brianna Mixter led the defense with 20 digs in match one. At the net, Maggie Bowersox and Kristland McCracken each came up with 11 kills to lead the offense.

In the final match of the day, Geneva used a four-headed offensive attack that featured each of the following finishing the match with double digit kills. Kristland McCracken (14), Maggie Bowersox (12), Rachel Kuegler (10) and Ashley Davis (10) each had solid performances. Briody led the way with 46 assists to go along with a team best five service aces. Mixter again led the defense with 20 digs in the victory.

Geneva gets back into conference play next week with a match at Thiel on Tuesday before finally returning home for the first time in three weeks to host Saint Vincent on Thursday at 7 pm.
