Beaver Falls, PA - Geneva College and Malone used to hook up in all sports across the board when they were each members of the American Mideast Conference in the NAIA. Since those glory days, Geneva has since moved to NCAA Division III while the Pioneers have moved on to Division II. On Wednesday the two old acquaintances got together on the tennis court with Malone coming away with a 9-0 victory. The loss dropped Geneva′s overall record to 3-6 while it still sits at 3-3 in the PAC.
The match of the day involved Geneva′s Alison Beattie at number four singles. Beatty dropped a three-set match with the final set being decided by the count of 10-8. Geneva′s number three doubles tandem comprised of Brittany Kress and Courtney Light dropped their match 9-8 with a tiebreaker score of 8-6.
The Golden Tornadoes will get back into conference play on Saturday when they visit Waynesburg University. Geneva won′t return home until October 17th for a make-up date with Thiel at 3:30 pm.
